Your Athletes’ Workout App Just Got An Upgrade (Literally)

We’ve been working since 2011 to help athletes train the right way for their sport and performance goals. Now, we’ve taken another step towards that goal with the launch of our new athlete app!

First Things First…Time to Upgrade!

Before you read anything else: tell your athletes to download the app! Then, have them log in with the same email and password as their current Volt account.

Coaches: If you’d like to check out the new app for yourself, reach out to your Coach Relations Specialist or Strength Coach Consultant and they’ll set you up!

Meet Cortex™

Inside the new app, your athletes will get up close and personal with Cortex™, Volt’s performance training AI. While Cortex has always been working in the background to optimize your athletes’ training, the new athlete app allows your team to interact with Cortex through a revolutionary patent-pending feature called Smart Sets.

Smart Sets uses an RPE-based system (Rate of Perceived Exertion) to fine-tune each athlete’s personalized loading recommendations from set to set during their workout. Unlike our legacy system, which bases loading off an athlete’s performance in three specific lifts, Smart Sets treats each movement uniquely—rather than depending on the athlete’s aptitude in the squat, bench, and clean.

The result? Smart Sets allows athletes to progress at their own rates—and our data shows that this helps athletes actually to push themselves harder in the weight room, and gain strength at faster rates overall, than they do without Smart Sets!

Bigger is (Sometimes) Better

In the new Volt app, workouts now have bigger, high-definition technique videos, making it easier than ever for athletes to execute each movement with proper form. Athletes can also edit the weight lifted and reps completed for every set (which Smart Sets will use to adjust their next set in real time), as well as access quick coaching cues, detailed step-by-step instructions, and their movement history for every movement in their program.

And in line with an overall theme of making the workouts more intuitive and easier to follow, we’ve also built an in-app movement timer (!) for timed movements, so athletes don’t have to navigate away from the Volt app during their plank holds.

Improved Tracking

Measure athletes’ success with the improved Workout Summary sheet. Designed to show the percentage of sets completed, primary movements performed, total tonnage lifted, workout focus, and the results of their pre-workout Readiness Check-in, the Workout Summary gives athletes a detailed look at each and every session.

Plus, it’s easily shareable, so athletes can celebrate their success with the team as they go.

Learn From the Pros

Another great perk of the new Volt app? The Gatorade Fuel Hub. Your athletes can fuel their workout with everything from motivation and inspiration to leading nutrition, hydration and recovery resources backed by Gatorade science. Inside, you’ll find some of our favorite professional athletes (like JJ Watt, Todd Gurley, Karl-Anthony Towns, and more) and talk about the recovery rules they live by, as well as what keeps them motivated.
