Coach Brian Gearity, PhD, ATC, CSCS*D, RSCC, USAW, USATF Level 3 Sprints, is the founding Director, and Clinical Assistant Professor, of the Master of Arts in Sport Coaching program at the University of Denver. Brian has been a strength and conditioning (S&C) and speed coach for youth, high school, collegiate, and professional athletes, including stops at the University of Tennessee, Cleveland Indians, and Purvis High School. As an athlete, Brian was a USAPL teenage powerlifting champion of Ohio and played football at John Carroll University in Cleveland before dislocating his shoulder and starting to his career as a S&C coach.

Brian is the Editor-in-Chief for NSCA Coach, the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s (NSCA) journal dedicated to the practice of coaching, and is Associate-Editor-in-Chief for the Strength & Conditioning Journal. Brian was the NSCA state director in Mississippi for 3 years and is entering his 3rd year as the director for Colorado.

Dr. Gearity’s research uses sociological and psychological theory to enhance effective and ethical coaching practice. He is also currently pursuing certification with the Association for Applied Sport Psychology to become a certified consultant.
