Feature Announcement: Volt Chat

If you haven’t heard the latest from Volt HQ this week, we just released our new in-app messaging feature: Volt Chat! Whether you’re sitting at your desktop computer or on-the-go with your phone, Volt Chat lets coaches and personal trainers communicate seamlessly and instantaneously with their athletes, teams, and clients—without leaving the coach platform. When you send a message through Volt Chat, your athletes receive a push notification on their phone. Pretty cool, huh?

We built Volt Chat because we know how important it is to be able to communicate with the people you work with. And in our increasingly hybrid virtual + in-person world, clear communication is more important than ever. We wanted Volt coaches to be able to talk to your athletes and clients right from the platform, without leaving your workflows, to help you stay in touch when it matters most.

In honor of the launch of Volt Chat, here are 5 different ways you can use our new chat features to up your coaching game and connect with your clients and athletes

1. Pump up your team with pre-workout inspo.

If a picture’s worth a thousand words, then a GIF must be worth at least a million. Wield the Giphy integration within Volt Chat to inspire your athletes with the perfect motivational moment to help them attack each rep of their workout.

2. Communicate the focus of today’s workout.

Is today’s session designed to be super hard? Intentionally easy? Help your clients or athletes set the right expectation going into a training session by shooting them some pointers beforehand. After all, mindset is key to buy-in!

3. Assign some homework.

Got an article on stress management you'd like to share with your client? Do your athletes need to read that one Volt blog article on foam rolling? Use the file-sharing feature in Volt Chat to assign content for your clients or athletes to open and interact with. Send images, PDFs, and start a discussion with your team! (You can even ask athletes to "react" to your message to indicate they've read what you assigned.)

4. Review technique videos.

Could one of your clients or athletes use a little extra help with their lifting form, when you can't be physically present with them in the gym? Have them send you a short video for you to review! If you're working with clients remotely, being able to provide real-time technique advice can be a game changer for improving confidence and program adherence. Send and receive videos up to 20 MB through Volt Chat and give your athletes your expert eye—even when you're not there in-person.

5. Check in with your people.

Showing your clients and athletes that you care about them as people is one of the most important jobs you have as a coach. A simple, "How are you doing today?" can make all the difference in the world to someone. If the only reason you use Volt Chat is to check in with your people and see how their day was, or how their workout went—we consider that a huge success.

At the end of the day, it's all about staying connected. We hope Volt Chat helps you stay connected with your clients, teams, and athletes when it matters.

You can access Volt Chat from the Coach Platform, and athletes can access Volt Chat in the mobile app (remind your team to update the app and enable push notifications first).
