Announcing the Newest Member of the Volt Athletics Advisory Board: Patrick McHenry

Today I’m proud to announce the addition of Patrick McHenry, MA, CSCS,*D, RSCC to the Volt Athletics Advisory Board

We formed the Volt Advisory Board in 2015 to ensure that only the highest quality training, backed by the latest science and research, is delivered through Volt’s Intelligent Training System. As the Board Chairman, I am confident that the addition of Coach McHenry, a respected and dedicated strength coach, adds another proven industry leader to the Volt Team.

I’ve known and worked with Coach McHenry for over ten years. He is the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Castle View High School, and a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Board Member. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with Distinction (CSCS*D) and a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC) with the NSCA. He is also a Certified Club Coach with USA Weightlifting. 

In 2003, Coach McHenry was awarded the Regional Strength Coach of the Year for American Football Monthly, and in 2005, he was selected as the NSCA High School Strength Coach of the Year. He received the Editorial Excellence Award from the Strength and Conditioning Journal in 2006. I was very proud to present him and his school one of the first ever Strength of America Awards from the President’s Council on Fitness in 2010. Coach McHenry has a Master’s Degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Kinesiology from the University of Northern Colorado.

At Castle View, Coach McHenry works with over 23 varsity sports and designs the lifting and speed/agility programs for all strength training classes. He has also presented at state, national, and international conferences, and has been published in books, journals, manuals, and videos.

His background and industry insights will provide a valuable resource for the thousands of coaches and athletes around the world that train on the Volt system.

Boyd Epley, MEd, CSCS*D, FNSCA, RSCC*E is a Hall of Fame strength coach and Chairman of the Volt Athletics Advisory Board. Considered the “Godfather of Strength and Conditioning," Boyd Epley served as the University of Nebraska’s head strength coach for 35 years and founded the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in 1978. According to ESPN, “Epley is arguably the single most important individual in the history of strength and conditioning in college athletics.” Epley returned to Nebraska in October 2014 as the Assistant Athletic Director for Strength and Conditioning and currently oversees the department he built. .
